Chemolithoautotrophic growth of Thioploca sp. with reduced sulfur compounds employing nitrate as electron acceptor		  
     
 

In this exercise the student is investigating the thermodynamics of lithoautotrophic biomass formation and associated dissimilation reactions carried out by the colorless sulfur bacterium Thioploca sp. under boundary conditions which reflect intracellular concentrations of the reactants.
