Minisymposium on Current Aspects of Ecological and Evolutionary Microbiology

Title to be determined by course participants

Minisymposium: organized by the students of the course EVOLUTION and ECOLOGY of MICROORGANISMS
  Time: Friday, December 3
Location: Small Lecture Hall, Institute of Plant Biology / Microbiology, Zollikerstrasse 115, 8008 Zürich

  Objectives and Scope

Students of the MICROBIAL EVOLUTION and ECOLOGY Course will present their course research results, and advisors of the course will briefly introduce the kind of research they are themselves involved in. In addition, a number of invited speakers will contribute to broaden this year's course topics. The contributions will provide a better understanding of the groups' research themes and the results obtained during the course.

We hope that the presentations will inspire interest in research with ecological and evolutionary perspectives; research which in turn might provide new solutions to current scientific problems.

The contributions will also broaden the often narrow focus of the every-day research work and offer students and established investigators new approches to answering environmental and ecological questions.

The times given in the program include the discussion period after each presentation. Sessions are chaired by the course participants who will introduce the speakers, keep the time schedule and assure the proper functioning of the room infrastructure.
