Problem XX / 7 Anaerobic dark metabolism of the microbial mat cyanobacterium Microcoleus chthonoplastes
	Microcoleus chthonoplastes metabolizes phototrophically synthesized storage carbohydrates under anoxic conditions in the dark, via a mixed acid fermentation. A number of actual experimental data illustrate the metabolic potential of this cyanobacterium. The data will allow the student to reconstruct part of the organism's organo-heterotrophic metabolism.
