Computer Courses

The following computer exercises are offered during the Microbial Evolution and Ecology Course:

  • Databank Applications in Microbial Ecology
  • Evolutionary Bio-informatics
  • Phyologeny: "Tree building"
  • Ecological Thermodynamics
  • Software packages for modelling and simulation
Depending on needs and interest, we offer 2-hour courses in the e-learning lab. These courses are not mandatory parts of the MICROBIAL EVOLUTION and ECOLOGY course. Signing-up is required, however, since there are only a limited number of computer work stations (MAC and PC) available. Please bring your own lab top or Power book, if you own one. Participants should have basic working skills using Internet browsers, word processing programs (e.g. Microsoft Word or equivalent) and spread sheet calculation programs (e.g. Excel or equivalent). Exercises are offered in the Course Folder on OLAT .

Introductory course to practice the use of the Internet for scientific applications. Students who feel they need a refresher on how to use the Internet should participate. Please sign up during the introductory sessions on Thursday, November 11.

The courses can be repeated if there are more applicants than computer work stations
